Five years after 9/11, we now see more and more health problems in
respiratory, cancer, mental and physical disabilities as well as
other medical conditions found from at about 10,000 of the 40,000
rescue and recovery workers who worked at Ground Zero.
While main stream health
researchers are looking at conventional causations from
dust and toxic pollutants following the
September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center (WTC) for the
respiratory and cancer problems, Dr. Jin Zhou believes that real
causes for these 9/11 Post-Traumatic Depression and WTC Cough &
Cancer as well as 9/11 Respiratory Failure might be mainly from
other overlooked mechanisms but same causes - 9/11 attacks and
subsequent rescue and recovery at Ground Zero.
If Dr. Jin Zhou were
correct in his speculation and hypotheses on 9/11 health disasters,
based on the largest new study, he may have discovered a new
possible solution to 9/11 health disasters.
Dr. Jin Zhou, based on initial
reviewing "Large
Study of World Trade Center Responders Finds Persistent Health
Problems in Many", and relevant news reports in the media,
as well as his new hypoxicology
clinical research, dust
and toxic pollutants following the September 11, 2001 attacks, among
other means, mainly caused environmental vocal cord
dysfunction, exertional vocal cord dysfunction, traumatic and psychogenic vocal cord dysfunction,
tracheal caudal displacement (TCD) with uvulopalatopharyngeal
stenosis (UPPS) and post-oropharyngeal stenosis (POPS) (as seen in news report on some NY
detective's facial profile with crowded but short submandibular
oropharyngeal reagion - steep jaw), impaired baroreflex and respiratory pace-making, as
well as dysautonomias, in turn, caused resultant complex sleep
disordered breathing, complex sleep apnea, prolonged hypoxemia, then
failed metabolic syndrome, inevitably, caused failed immunological,
psychological or psychiatric, respiratory syndromes, and even
multiple system atrophy (MSA), or death.

Post-9/11 Work Didn't Sicken Rescue Dogs--Washington Post - Oct 20, 2006
"NEW YORK -- They dug in the toxic World Trade Center dust for
survivors, and later for the dead. Their feet were burned by
white-hot debris. But unlike thousands of others who toiled at
ground zero after Sept. 11, these rescue workers aren't sick.
Scientists have spent years studying the health of
search-and-rescue dogs that nosed through the debris at ground
zero, and to their surprise, they have found no sign of major
illness in the animals. They are trying to figure out why this
is so." [full

In particular,
complex sleep disordered breathing, asthma and snoring, depression,
sleep apnea will cause severe sleep apnea and hypoxia, which will
cause cancer or speed up development of cancer previously
undetected, in a much shorter time frame than those dust and toxic
pollutants, that may take 15 to 20 years to cause cancers as in
traditional theory.
Sleep apnea, respiratory
dysfunction and failure, vocal cord dysfunction, asthma, snoring and
depression are well reported in the news media in the past five
years.
Again, if Dr. Jin Zhou were
correct on his speculation or hypothesis, his new clinical research
and therapy, Zhou's Hypoxicology Therapy (ZHT) may bring timely and
effective as well as cost saving solutions to this nation for
healing 9/11 health disasters.
Dr. Jin Zhou would like to
explore this theory and possible clinical solution with interested
experts in hope to find timely help to our nation in healing 9/11
attack and disaster at the fifth anniversary of 9/11 tragedy. He can

Health NEW -
Gotham Gazette, NY, Sep 8, 2006
"Days before the fifth anniversary of 9/11, Mt.
Sinai Medical Center published the findings of its monitoring
program. Mt. Sinai's study looked at about 10,000 of the 40,000
first responders who worked at Ground Zero. Seventy percent of the
Ground Zero workers the center tested between 2002 and 2004 reported
respiratory problems while working at the site. Of those, 60 percent
have had persistent respiratory problems."

Large Study of World Trade
Center Responders Finds Persistent Health Problems in Many
60 Percent Still Suffer Respiratory Problems from Exposure to
Environment at Site
"Almost 70 percent of World Trade Center
responders had a new or worsened respiratory symptom that developed
during or after their time working at the WTC"
"Responders seen in the past year have had: upper
respiratory illnesses (84 percent), such as
sinusitis, laryngitis,
and vocal cord dysfunction, lower respiratory disorders (47 percent)
such as asthma and World Trade Center cough, psychological disorders
(37 percent) such as post-traumatic stress disorder and chronic
depression, and musculoskeletal problems (31 percent) often from
injuries that occurred while working on the pile."

World Trade Center Disaster and the Health of Workers: Five-Year
Assessment of a Unique Medical Screening Program (pdf)

Results.
Sixty-nine percent of 9,442 responders examined between July 2002
and April 2004 reported new or worsened
respiratory symptoms while
performing WTC work. Symptoms persisted to the time of examination
in 59%. Among those who had been asymptomatic before 9/11,
61%
developed respiratory symptoms while performing WTC work.
Twenty-eight percent had abnormal spirometry. FVC was low in 21% of
our population. Obstruction was present in 5%. Among non-smokers,
27% had abnormal spirometry vs. 13% in the general U.S. population.
Prevalence of low FVC among nonsmokers was five-fold greater than in
the U.S. population (20% vs. 4%).
Respiratory symptoms and spirometry abnormalities were significantly associated with early
arrival at the site."
